SAPPA Tour Event 5
Riley's, Ledard Road, Glasgow
18 June 2006
The second Tour Event to be held within 2 weeks took place at Riley's in Ledard Road in the Battlefield area of Glasgow and saw 53 players battling it out. In the end, it was the reigning Scottish number one, Michael Valentine of Falkirk, who went undefeated to win the event and the £400 first prize, beating Glasgow's Stevie Capaldi by 9 racks to 7. Stevie showed that he is the on-form player of the moment by reaching his second Tour Event final in 2 weeks, but it was not to be his day as The Yeti managed to take the closely fought final.
One of the highlight stories of the tournament was the return to form of Glasgow's Darren Murray who, despite being put over to the losers' bracket by Capaldi in the final qualifying round, managed to reach the Semi Final - disposing of quality opposition in the forms of Stuart Ellis and Clark Smith - before being knocked out of the tournament by Valentine.
