2004 SAPPA 3-Person Team Championships

Last Sunday saw the 2004 edition of the 3-Person Team Event, being held this year at Pennies in Falkirk and featuring 24 teams from the length and breadth of Scotland. The format featured 6 groups of 4 teams playing a round-robin format with 16 teams moving onto the knock-out phases. The top 2 teams from each group would automatically qualify for the knock-out phase along with the 4 best 3rd place teams. In the event of 2 or more teams being tied on points, racks won would then come into consideration. If 2 teams were still tied within a group, the result of the match between those teams would then sort out the final group standings. These cases are marked with an asterisk (*) in the group tables.

ll of this led to the Dundee-based "Riley's Rockets" team comprised of Jimmy Pollock, Tam Walkinshaw and Davy Jack facing Fife's "9ball.com" made up of Alan Dickson, Paddy Moir and Ross McInnes. In the end it was "Riley's Rockets" who walked off with the first prize and the title after beating "9ball.com" by 11 racks to 7. Congratulations to Jimmy, Tam and Davy on an excellent performance through the day.
